Baby quilt (only a year late)

So I had the top of this quilt done the day before I went into labor (last Labor Day, ha ha ha), then I had a baby, life got crazy, and it sat in a drawer. FOR A YEAR!!
Grandparents took the littles for the day so i looked for a way to be productive. BAM! Quilt time :)
This little triangles were time consuming puppies, I tell ya! I really wanted them on there though, my grandma put them on mine & I remember sucking and chewing on them till I was like 10 or something. Yeah, probably younger than that, but you get the picture.
Love, love, love that fluffy backing I found for it, so cozy! My daughter felt it and reminded me that I still owe a quilt.... and she'd like the back to be just. like. that.
Guess you know what I'll be working on for Christmas, eh?
Any who, love the way this quilt top was put together. TRIANGLES! Lots of triangles put together to make a chevron pattern. Genius.

Birth announcements

This black, white, & silver one was made special for the grandmother (who is the best looking granny i've EVER seen!! Seriously, she looks nothing like a grandma) who just adores bling. I'm not a blingy girl, myself, so I'm not gonna lie. Putting on those rhinestones was so hard! I wanted pearls, but that's just me. As long as she's happy with it, then all is right with the world.
Made this one for her to hand out to her friends. There is glitter ALL OVER my craft room. No joke. I used spray adhesive then dumped glitter on for the picture corners and boy is everything I was wearing sparkly! I do love the look of the feather on top of the inked doily though, so vintage and feminine.
I printed out her info and inked the edges in pink then foam mounted on the inside of the card. Stamped "made with love" in pink on the backs of all of them. I think they turned out cute and not super pink, which is what she was going for.

Monkey Birthday

My little monkey just turned 1!!

We had a monkey themed party at a local park. It was a great day, too! If you're from up here in the North West, you know that we haven't had the best weather. Actually, that's an understatement. There was a threat of snow a couple of weeks ago :(

In all the turmoil that we have had to endure in the last few weeks (VERY long story, we lost two family members within four days. Very hard on us), it was a welcome treat to have sunshine, happiness and cake... all on the same day.

Grocery bag card

Super simple card, right here.

To save time, money, and paper, I go to my local michaels store and buy their card/envelope sets that are blank inside from the $1 bin. This is cheaper than just buying envelopes, plus then I have the right sized cards already made and just have to make a "card front" to adhere to it (saving my white cardstock).

The background is actually cut from a safeway grocery bag, I used the inside of it. I stamped buggy (stampin' up) on front and again on a piece of patterned paper. I fussy cut only the basket part of the buggy out of the patterned paper and adhered to the card front on top of the other stamped image. Layered ribbon (from $1 bin at michaels) & adhered.

This card would be super simple to mass produce, I'll just have to go shopping first to get more grocery bags =D

Finished nursery!

So my little Mr. will be here soon and we will be ready!!

We had the baby shower last weekend, and it went great. My two favorite girls, my sisters, even came up for it! We got almost everything we need to enjoy our son when he decides it's time to grace us with his presence.

It's funny how stuff works out. We were not going to have a theme, just a color scheme. Well, monkeys kept popping up, so we embraced them and ran with it. I love it and am sure our little guy wi ll too.

2nd quilt

Well here's quilt #2. I picked up this fabric at the same time a the first, it just didn't fit in with the first and there was so much if it, I made a whole other quilt. The inside is a cut to fit fleece blanket and the backing is a brown sheet, both from goodwill.
This one us much smaller than the first, it'll be a great one for him to lay on the floor with or use in his play pen.

First quilt

Yeah! I borrowed a friends sewing machine and got a lesson on how to use it. I scoured the clearance bin at walmart for fabric pieces. I went to the goodwill for the back piece (a yellow striped sheet) and for the inside (a fleece blanket cut to size). Over all, I think I paid less than $12 for everything.

My sister-in-law just moved here from Alaska and when she saw I was learning to sew, gave me her sewing machine. She had only used it once!

So I've made him another quilt (will post pics soon), and got some fabric and payed to try to make the girls sundresses. We'll side how those go.... I'm a bit scared.

Little Mr.'s bedroom

Only 10 more weeks till he's due! Hubby and I are going with a green & brown color scheme (could you tell?), and this is one side of his nursery. Hubby drew the tree on with pencil and we all helped paint it. It was nice to have the girls help with his room too.
I've tried my hand at sewing lately, I've made my little guy two quilts! I'll try to post pics if them next.

She's expecting card

Made this on the fly. My sis-in-law is planning my baby shower and we were messing around with invite ideas.
My little guys colors are gonna be green & brown, so this was fitting.
We ended up going with a completely different card style, lots of fun and many pieces. When we complete them all & send them out, I'll make sure to post it.
