Father's Day cards

Crackle background stamp, spritzed marker, made flag wrapped in twine, stamped sentiment, used Big Shot to cut it out, cut out sentiment in darker ink.

Used the Big Shot to emboss the lines, created a boy out of ribbon, stamped sentiment and cut out.

Used color spritzer tool and a marker on background, cut out multiple flags out of cardstock, stamped image, cut out, used crop-o-dile for eyelets and twine.

Used patterned paper to make corners and as background, sanded paper. Stamped sentiment on paper then used punch on bottom, added wrapped wire to side for a 'masculine' touch.

Birthday calendar

Because my husbands family is HUGE and I can't keep anything straight. Every time I turn around, I've missed a birthday. The solution? This bad boy! Once again, I got this off pinterest. Took a left-over cedar plank from one of hubbies jobs and spray painted it. Decorated it with cut out paper, flowers, and stickers. I hot glued ribbon to the back of it (12 strands equally spaced) and used my SU punch to cut out lots and lots of little squares. I did blue & green for the boys, and pink, orange, red for the girls, just so I could see at a glance the gender of the birthday person (there's so many kids, it helps just to glance at it a month early and know that I need 4 boy gifts and 2 girl gifts for the next month). I used first names and the date of birth per square then attached them to the ribbon in order of date. Since completing this, I have had several family members let me know that what they want for their next birthday is one of these. Guess I better get busy, I have SEVERAL to make!

Got this idea off of pinterest for our mommy group (MOPS) at church. We started with a foam board and cut it to the size we wanted. -Used mod podge to cover it with scrapbook paper. -Hot glued clothes pins (painted or covered in paper) to the side -Used my SU label punches to do the abbreviations of the days of the week onto the clothes pins -Made a little pocket out of coordinating paper to hold more paint chips (dinner cards) -Hot glued a push pin into the foam to hang a paper clip keeping index cards for shopping lists/notes -Hot glued some wide ribbon to the back to hang where-ever in the kitchen Some ladies altered this and turned it into a chore board for the kiddos or a to-do list for the hubby. I love the idea and simplicity of it. The fact that it can be made to match your kitchen? Bonus.

Almost Christmas time!!

Nothing tells me that the holidays are closer than the arrival of Egg Nog. And guess what that means? It means that I get to have my very special super duper favorite drink of all time!! Egg Nog spiced Chai Latte!! Yummy. Seriously. Best thing that has EVER been in my mouth! We used Stampin' Up!s new scented embossing powder on this card, "Sugar and Spice" (get more info on it HERE) so when the recipient opens the envelope, they smell the goodness. Pretty simple card, love those frame dies, the possibilities are endless with them! See the whole SU collection of framelits HERE

Simple watercolor card

This kind of card is a great way to showcase watercoloring using the Stampin' Up! crayons. This was the make & take for my most recent workshop. I love showing the label punch too, that's one of my favorites!

Wedding gift wall art

Made this for a friend of mine who had some young family members getting married soon. She said grey, cream, & a deep red, gave me a couple of pictures, and set me free! I chose to use some old cedar planks as the base, it has a great coloring (almost grey) to it without me having to do anything.

I think this is my favorite part of it. I found this great old handle, sanded it, and put her on there. I love wall art with 3D stuff. When they hang this in their home, the tags (made from sheet music, stamped on, spritzed with a 'starfish' glimmer mist, then hung on the handle with misc. ribbon) will freely hang/dangle. Each tag says something different so depending on the angle you look at it, you'll see something different. I stamped the swirls & birds (SU) in black and found some great old buttons for the corner. The hearts are chipboard that I covered with paper and distressed.

Dominoes and a doily... can't go wrong! Throw in another great button, some hat pins, and pearls and you've got a stylish chic corner. I stamped and heat embossed the "MR" and the "MRS" in black, and did the "&" in white.

If we weren't friends, I wouldn't admit to busting up my finger making this project. I used beer & root beer bottle caps for this. I took them outside to flatten with a hammer in the driveway. Let's just say I missed the cap once. Ouch. I did mess up on this. Twice. Let's not play "find the mistakes" though, K?! I absolutely loved how it turned out, wish they were pictures of me & hubby so I could hang it up in my home, oh well. Congrats you two!!

Dainty Vintage card

This was a make & take from my last workshop. Just love the doily die for my Big Shot!
You ever get something that just becomes a staple in your crafty life? For me it would be that great label punch! I seem to use it with just about every other card! You can see it HERE. And guess what?!? There's coordinating stamps to go with it! Yup, I know. Heaven. :)

Family Command Center

This is how our family of 5 (currently 8) keeps it all together. We have our calendar up and i put everyones activities on it. Guess what? COLOR CODED!! I assigned a colored marker to everyone so at a glance I know who has what.

Got the boards from Wal*Mart and guess what... they're magnetic!!

I hate to hear "What's for dinner" at least twice per kid, per day. That's at least 12 times per day!! Sooo, dinner is planned out in advance and all I have to do is point.

This is a 12x12 shadow box that I found at a garage sale. I painted it white, distressed it, added a lovely piece of paper as a background, and viola! Ready for my menu! I printed the menu out on regular printer paper, tore and inked the edges, then straight pinned in place.

Found this big ole frame also at a garage sale, SUPER cheap. I created a mat around it with scrapbook paper so my regular printer paper would fit inside it. I printed off the kids daily, weekly, and monthly chores on one side, the other side is for miscellaneous stuff I want them to get done. With the paper under the glass, we get to use it as a dry erase board!!

I was given the chalk board clip board as a birthday gift and decided to use it with this project. We have 4 hanging clipboards under the big board to keep individual papers from getting lost in the shuffle. Everyone has their own board so they are responsible for keeping track of their own papers. LOVE the accountability!

Home Made Smash Book

At one of our last M.O.P.S. meetings, the craft was "Smash Books".

I teach the class using the books from K & Company at my local Michael's store, but honestly I prefer this kind.
This is what I call the "Cram-What-You-Can Book"

Seriously. To save money on scrapbooks, make your own. Head to the craft store to get some rings (like $3 for 6, I think) and then just use scraps!

I decided to go for texture. I got canvas pieces, rope, twine, netting, magazine paper, cardstock, envelopes, cardboard... anything that I thought might not get used, I used. A lot of the pages are made with 12x12 paper cut into fourths (so 6x6 squares) and glued to each other. I only glued 3 sides though, make every page a pocket! Give me glue, a paper trimmer, a pile of junk mail and a Crop-o-dile, I'll give you a Smash Book!

This has been in the works for months now, I wanted to get as much in it as possible before giving to hubby for Father's Day. I got all the ticket stubs from our outings (Plays, Seahawks & Mariners games, Museum trips, etc), included family pictures of us & our parents, and found miscellaneous stuff that I know he loves. I found a great vintage koala bear postcard at a garage sale for next to nothing, also found some vintage Father's Day cards that just happened to say the perfect things :)

Altered Journal #2

I love this one. I think my favorite part is that lovely inked doily. Doiley. Doilly. Without "Google"ing it, I don't know how to spell it :(

No wait, maybe my favorite part is that glorious vintage button....

Yeah, not sure. I do know that the doily (SP?) and the button MAKE this beautiful.

But wait, without the chalk ink on the doily (SP?), would it be so lovely? I for one, hope to never find out.
Why?

Whoooo's birthday?

I made this card for a lady in my community. I believe it's for her nieces 1st birthday :) So many layers, so much texture. i LOVE it! Some fun things I did on this card: --distressed using sandpaper and razor blades --paper pieced the owl (stamped him in pink first, cut out his eyes & belly, then glued them on top of a brown stamped image) --made a paper medalion (maybe this will be the next tutorial I do?) --threaded a (very) cool button with patterned paper instead of thread

All you need is paper...

And a stamp :) Super simple card using patterned paper and a little bit of left-over ribbon from another project. This is the style that anyone can do and are also the easiest to mass produce. I usually don't share person info here, however I recently had a self-realization that I am not proud of. I have always thought of myself as extemely compassionate. Like EXTREME! I cry when others are in pain (physical or emotional), I just can't take people or animals getting hurt. My realization is that I am N O T compassionate, but -Sensitive-. These two words are closely related in their meaning, however, sensitivity is also related to selfishness, and compassion is not. Wow. That's hard to swallow. It's also wierd that after 30-some-odd years (hush up!) I am finally figuring myself out and being honest about the findings. Now, what to do with the knowledge... God has a plan for me. He has made me who I am and equipped me for a purpose. My job is to be the best me that I can be, all the while giving glory to Him.

Pretty in pink for Mother's Day

I've been working on Mother's Day cards for the bazaar that's coming up. I actually got the inspiration for this one from a Christmas card that I made years ago. I love chocolate brown with pink!!

Altered Journal

I head to ladies retreat this afternoon!! I was packing for it and realized that I didn't have a cute journal/notebook to take, so I decided to make one! This was just a $1 spiral bound journal that I got out of the dollar bin at my local Michael's store.

I even put a little pocket in the back to keep some of my Stampin' Up! buisness cards in. Just in case I see some crafty ladies :)

Love the texture this one has. Used embossing folder with the Cuttlebug to get it. Some expired SU patterned paper and ribbon go perfectly with it.
My new stamp set, "Four Frames" was used here. I can't wait to get the matching punch!

I used this great neighborhood set that I got last year (I think) from Sale-A-Bration, FOR FREE!

I used ink that is no longer available (Soft Sky).

The gingham ribbon was from like 2006 or so, definatly NOT available!

Bottom line: No matter the date of the product, Stampin' Up! has amazing stuff! Like it never gets old! Well, it gets old, but not old enough to make it not cool enough to use.

This is one of my new sets from Stampin' Up!

Is it just me, or are birds, bird cages, and chandeliers all the rage right now? I personally, also love owls. There's some super cute stuff out there!

I stamped the bird first in Lavender Lace, then stamped the cage over it in basic black.

I attempted to dye the satin ribbon with ink, it didn't turn out the way I wanted it, so I just flipped it over! :)

worlds cheapest adhesive? dollar store glue gun, with glue sticks found at thrifts stores or the dollar store. i know not everything works with hot glue, but if it does, *cheap* *cheap*

you don't have to have scrap paper inside,

you can doodle, draw, or just adhere pictures

tabs are circle cut outs glued back to back around the edge of the sacks. great little page turners that can be customized!

you can also combine the paper with the doodles

here i did a two-tone page with coordinating paper

and "attatched" them with faux stitches (doodling)

you can "stitch" borders for another amazing sewn look

the word "spot" was me using the cricut to cut out the word "spotted" for another project.

here i used the negative of the word to let the bag show through

just another way to use scraps

the bookmark tag is cut out paper, placed back to back, with the ribbon adhered to the inside of them

for the back i continued with the negative use of die cut words and flowers

i love this little book. can't wait to fill all the little nooks & crannies with memories and treasures!

birthday card

i used a piece of brown paper bag on this, wanna play "i spy"?

this turned out super cute, it's definatly on my "like" list. honestly, it's amazing how many projects i finish and end up not liking the results. this here, not one of 'em! lots going on, but there's no such this as too much.

baby & i have both been sick for the last couple of days, it was nice to get my fingers dirty. i love how i can jump into my hobby whenever i want. having a craft area in the house is so convenient. i'm so fortunate to be able to have a hobby. before i came across paper crafting, i was the person my family had wrapping all the gifts at Christmastime. that was pretty much the extent of my craftiness. i love it when God makes me blossom!

i stamped a flourish then went over it in a glitter pen.

girl is heat embossed in a clear gloss.

i inked the lace before bunching it up behind the patterned paper.

to cut the scallops, i took the guide off my slit punch and made it into a border punch.

clean & simple

it's about that time of year again to think of love. when i think of lovey cards, i always go back to black, white & red. i just adore that color combination, so classy!

i made this for a Valentines party invitation for Sharon Care Center. and this has to be one of the most simple cards, only 2 pieces of paper, 2 stamps, 2 ribbons (well, one lace, one ribbon) and some stickles. clean & simple! ---which it usually not my style at all, so i'm amazed that it turned out cute AND i actually like it!!
